In an ideal world, it wouldn’t be needed at all. Sadly, the care funding system can be a minefield for families.

Care to Be Different was founded after one family’s struggle to understand the complex care funding system when both parents needed full-time care. Despite severe health needs, they were wrongly charged for care that should have been fully funded by the NHS.

A bit more about who we are and how we started.

2010 A personal battle for justice

After years of challenging unfair decisions, their daughter finally secured full NHS Continuing Healthcare funding and decided to share what she’d learned so others wouldn’t face the same confusion and stress.

2012 A resource for families

The website became a trusted source of practical advice, stories, and guidance – helping families navigate the NHS Continuing Healthcare process, challenge poor assessments, and fight for the funding they’re entitled to.

2024 A new chapter

Care to Be Different is now part of Continuing Care Solutions Ltd, led by Jonathan Dwek and Andrew Farley, also Directors of Farley Dwek Solicitors Ltd. Together, they continue the mission to raise awareness of NHS care funding issues and provide clear, accessible support to families across England.
